Laila - A Special Lady
Description:
Laila Dowell Whitley, 1920-1975, was a very special woman. She had a deep love of her family and friends and an appreciation of life. She was the glue that held her family together. Everyone who knew her was forever changed by her generosity, kindness and love.
After her death, I found these handwritten poems. Many were written to her son, Charles (Japee) and his family while he was in the Air Force and away from home. Some were written to or about other family members and co-workers. I don't know who the last poem in the book "A Special Lady" was written for, but it describes her perfectly.
I am proud to call this very special lady, mom.
